ADVICE NEEDED - Audi A6 S-line Avant
Hi, hoping someone can help so will try and keep this short. We have an 07 plate Audi A6 S-line Avant bought in 2008 for commuting as at the time journey to work was 1.5 hours, 1 hour of which was motorway driving. So DPF not really an issue at that time.
Situation has changed and now journeys definitely shorter but we motorway run the car once a week and that kept DPF quiet. Anyway approx. 8 weeks ago, the car engine failed whilst driving and wheel locked and car stopped. Luckily was able to safely manoeuvre car to side of road. We were recovered to our usual local garage who said that major engine work was needed as cam belt had gone but it wasn't just this as there were issues with valves etc ( I will not pretend I understood the extent of damage). Total cost of work was £2500. Within 24 hours of picking car up, radio would switch to CD when we went over speed bumps, and then the DPF light came on. We ran it off as usual but it came on again within another day and stayed on, wouldn't regenerate then the engine light came up on the dashboard. We took it back to garage who argued it was nothing to do with them and not linked to engine work. We disagreed and eventually they took it in, had a look and said it was sensors. We got car back after which DPF light started coming on every 2 days without fail. Again took back to garage who are saying it's not their problem and a new DPF (at cost of £1500 including labour) is needed. We are now looking at taking them to trading standards as it is difficult to believe that just before engine work, DPF regeneration was working okay and now after the work there are all sorts of problems culminating with DPF no longer regenerating & us now potentially having to fork out an additional £1500 in order to have a working vehicle.
Advice would be greatly received. Thanks for reading....

Is it not a reasonably possibility that the DPF filter itself got clogged / internally damaged when the engine went kaput?
Also, its a £250 job to get the DPF taken out and the car recoded. No more DPF problems. Ever.0
