PPI money taken back by barclaycard

Hello all,

As the title says really. Does anyone have any experience of this happening?

Last week i received 3 ppi reclaim payments onto my barclaycard. Two of them were fairly significant and one not so much. They all appeared on my statement as 'insurance ms' However, within 2 days the largest and smallest payments were taken out of my account again, appearing as 'interest ms'. The biggest payment that was taken back out was just over £6000. I have contacted them (Via email), and the reply was that someone will urgently look into it and contact me (That was at the end of last week). I have asked where the reply is, but have heard nothing back since.

Anyone that can shed any light on this? Or has similar experience?

Many thanks in advance.

Sometimes they add it to your card, then take it off again and send it as a cheque.

  • Thanks for your quick reply.

Any ideas as to why they would do this?

Did they credit the Barclaycard CC account or your current account?

If they credited the CC account and it took it into a credit balance then they don't allow this so will reverse it and send it as a cheque

Partly as they refund to the method it was paid. Partly as it would bring accounts in arrears/default back down.

All quite normal. Give it a few days and you should find a cheque turn up.

I've just received a letter from Barclaycard regarding a refund of PPI and the explanation regarding how this is made. They say the amount will appear as a credit on the next statement and also as a debit and a cheque will be sent. They say they do this to record that a payment has been made. Pretty much the same as everyone here has said really :)
