Financial Associations

I'm not clear on exactly what creates a financial association between two people. I understand that if I get a joint account or apply for a loan with my OH, we'll be linked, but are there any other circumstances in which this would happen? What about if we applied to rent a house together?
Thanks in advance

Renting a house will not form a financial association - see this http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/mortgages/2012/03/flatmates-missed-rent-payments-wont-harm-credit-history-now
Renting a house does not usually appear on your credit file at all. Although its possible this will start happening more (particularly if you rent through a large lettings agent) - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/loans/2013/01/missed-rent-payments-could-cost-you-a-loan-or-mortgage
Having utilities etc in joint names could create a financial association.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
