We are off work till Thursday :j

The chickens are settling in, will go to bed if I stand in the coop and point them in the right direction, its a good job we live in the middle of nowhere, I go out after my bath in dressing gown and wellies, and stand in coop saying 'bed time ladies', they go up the ramp to bed in a line, its so funny! we arent releasing them free range until the end of the month, we are off for a week, so if we have trouble getting them in of a night, its not just me hunting for them :rotfl:

Ive completed this months budget calculations, its a tight month, £550 payment to diy loan, and £175.60 to mortgage overpayment fund, £0 to xmas, p.bonds and pet food/bedding savings..

I'm sure next month we will work extra hard to catch up. The food budget is on target, meal planning is going well this month.

I'm off out into the sunshine again, a couple of hours weeding/pruning, mixed with a few hours in my sunchair reading, got to make time for a bit of battery re-charging too!:)

What a lovely week- the sun has shone, only worked 2 days, hubby and i got caught up on loads of little jobs, and wait for it- OUR FENCING/GATES/WATERGATES ARE COMPLETED!!:j our fencing guy texted last night to say he would be calling this morning to complete the watergate and last area of fencing and last gate, phew

Now we can move on to sorting the stable :j

Im looking online, the fencing guy does stabling too, very good quality, but he is booked up and earliest he estimates to start it is end July/beginning of August. Id rather he did it, as hes a local business, quality workmanship, but im worried that if i find my horse i will need the stable ready... i will have to ponder, im determined to hold out for as near as perfect horse for my requirements, and may take a few months who knows, i suppose worst case scenario i could turn the horse out to grass full time straight away, i will have to plan a plan b..

  • Congratulations on your first eggs! We had 4 to start with and found it a good number. Chickens really have much more character than I realised before we got them.

We are cracking on with jobs- filled one 8 yard skip with the roofing sheets from the old workshop roof, felled two dead trees and chopped for log, now started the mammoth task of repairing the stonework, starting with the old cartshed which currently we s=use for coal/wood store, but which one day will be stables.

Its been boiling hot, the chickens are loving exploring their new world. and making dust baths:)

Everywhere are baby animals, what we have at the moment- baby rabbits, deer, mice, various baby birds.. its so lovely to watch them (in between working :))

    :)
Thought id better get an update on the months interest/payments, my diary has been neglected while we have been off..

    Interest for may- £405.39
    daily - £13.07
    direct debit- £1208.83
    new balance= £222,406.56

    made £6.56 overpayment
    new balance= £222,400

today made early june overpayment of £200

    new balance £222,200 :T

total overpayments to date = £8,120.48

We have loads of work to do still which will keep us busy rest of 2018, and most of 2019, just sand and cement to keep buying for this, and a bit more fencing.

Im still awaiting quote/start date for my stable, but as i havent found my horse yet im just keeping the money allocated for this in my savings and not worrying about it.

right, better update signature too, must be more organised with my diary!:)

:) Another lovely day, the sun is shining, the chickens are pottering about making dust baths everywhere :)

Financial news- a £25 win on the premium bonds this month  the winnings are set to re-invest, so the savings pot has risen by £25

Sad news- last night i heard a small bang as i was getting in the bath, this morning i discovered a young woodpecker dead below the window. It must have flown into it and broken its neck :(
literally an hour after finding that one, another young woodpecker did exactly the same, its heartbreaking to think the parents spend all that time nurturing them, for that to happen within a week of them flying the nest.. the mother is still feeding on the bird table, poor thing..
