Ideas for lone female traveller to Paris/Bruges/Brussels

Hi
I've got next week booked off on holiday. I've got nothing planned. I had hoped to travel with my brother but he's pulled out now. I want to visit Paris, Versailles, Bruges and Brussels. I will be on my own, which is holding me back from booking anything. Are there any groups I can get in contact with?

Paris is lovely, but Belgium is almost as pointless as Wales.

I disagree, Brussels must be one of the best places in the world to eat chips and enjoy great beer, and there's even a Tintin museum within easy reach. It's a great destination for a couple of days.

(So is Paris, come to that...)

Solo travel can be enjoyable... Last time I was in Paris I stayed at MIGE (lovely old building in a great location; very affordable; shame about the horrible breakfast) and just spent all my time out sight-seeing or simply walking and soaking up the atmosphere. If you get absorbed in experiencing your destination then on the whole you don't get lonely, although you really appreciate your friends once you get home.

I'm afraid that I tend to agree that Belgium is a waste of space, although by all accounts Bruges is wonderful (I've never been, but it's on my list).

Yes, regardless of whether you like Belgium or not, I just wanted to echo that travelling alone can be one of the most enjoyable ways to do it.

You can go exactly where you want to go, when you want to go there. You don't have to compromise on anything, and if there's only one of you it's usually easier to change plans if you decide you want to stay somewhere longer than originally planned or move on in a hurry.
