Can I add an ensuite?

Ok
So some like saniflow some don't.
Is there not a way of having a shower and basin without a saniflow?
We used to have random sinks in rooms at our old house when I grew up would they have all gone straight into a sewerage pipe or can they go through the floor?
It is a straight line from the bathroom to where I want the ensuite. Under the bath, through cupboard small landing and then into the bedroom. If the joists run the right way maybe a waste pipe for shower and basin?
Or would it be useless and not worth any extra money having the ensuite with no loo?0 -
My parents had a Macerator, fitted in half a downstairs porch (which they converted into a small shower room, for my nan, with toilet and sink).
In the 11 years they lived there it was probably used 6 times a day, and never once caused a problem. The shower was only ever used by my dad after gardening, so probably 30 times a year. The waste pipe, went under the floor boards, about 35 foot, through an outside wall, right turn, along the wall 20 foot, and into the soil pipe. It was fitted in 1990, and when they moved in 2001 it had not been any trouble.0 -
Thanks!
I'll see what a plumber suggests. Another option & probably a lot cheaper is a shower in the downstairs loo it will be right but could fit.
I'm considering getting a lodger again so would be nice to have a seperate shower.
I also hate showering over the bath!0 -
Another vote in favour of a saniflo if used correctly here

We had no option but to have one in our newly created ensuite to the master bedroom in our 200+ year old house. Admittedly it's only been in use for 14 months, but we've had no issues as yet. It only gets used by DH and I, mainly first thing in the morning and during the night and will never be used by guests to flush away their tampons etc as there will be three other bathrooms when we've finished the house renovations.......
We also have friends with an award-winning bathroom showroom that carry out installations and according to them, majority of issues occur when people put inappropriate objects down the loo
That said, if we could gave avoided having one, we would, but we really had no choice if we wanted an ensuite......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Saniflos can sometimes smell, I'm not sure why. Did anyone experience that?0

Your call as it would be your preference.Or would it be useless and not worth any extra money having the ensuite with no loo?

There are many models of Saniflo available and some only require a 22mm discharge pipe. Others must use 32mm.
No reason why you can't have a full ensuite if you wish. May well be possible to run the discharge pipe under the floor to the soil pipe. You need a site survey by a competent installer to assess the best option for you.
My experience of Saniflo is that they are very reliable if used correctly.0
