Urgent Help! JSA Conflicting information re. Savings

  • Ok, so apparently I am 'down' for income based at my local (small) JSA, however it is not their decision and whomever my application has been sent off to will decide if I am eligible for contribution based JSA. My application has not been processed yet.

Although, less that one week since first going into my JC+, I have an interview this week via them, and have been told I stand a good chance of getting it (identical to what I did before). I actually do not want this job however as I haven't had a chance really to look for something else in a field I would much prefer, however I am guessing I have to take it as that will not be a valid reason? I guess this would result in a sanction, if that fact I left my job (albeit with cause) does already not? Moving on from my original 'savings' issue, this is a whole other line of confusion, my local JC+ are not very helpful.

Can you elaborate on this? It doesn't really mean very much to me

Unless you have a permitted period that would exclude the job for any reason then, yes, you would probably be liable for a sancion.
  • I think I am going to be sanctioned for a period &/or ineligible for JSA (for now at least).

Leaving my previous job (extensive proof etc is now being asked for, although I do 'actually' have emails, I fear a contract is required!), the interview I had above was successful and I have just this hour turned it down (with good reason imo), and of course my savings (£16k+) may make me ineligible anyway if my claim in income based.

    So, my question now is...

    1) How to I cancel my claim 'for now', and will cancelling on my own choosing affect a claim in the future should I need to make it when my circumstances have changed?

    2) How do I continue to pay my stamp/NSI (I understand its important to be continuously paid and is only around £6)

    Thank you
