I've had them calling me before when I was ignoring my debt situation; the conversation goes something like:
"Hello is Mr. K. there?" (there is a lot of background noise)
    "Who's speaking?"
"*banks name* / It is a private matter, is Mr. K. there?"
"No thank you, goodbye." *hang up*.

I understand it isn't nice to have to answer these phonecalls. However, you do not HAVE to speak to them if you don't want to. An alternative could be for you to tell them you are only corresponding by letter or through Step Change, say good bye and hang up.

    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

Reported as Spam. On no account contact a fee charging debt management company when you can get the same service free from a charity. Do not pay these sharks.

  • Its crazy to think you can always pay before but as soon as something happens they dont want to help you. Eventhough their website states that if you experience problems to let them know????

I have!!! Its sad, I understand its my debt and it needs to be paid back, but its not like I am ignoring it ....

Anyways I shall keep ye all posted on what happens.

It is lovely to have a forum like this, it really helps.

    Cheers

  • Hi DB12000,

I entered into a DMP with SC a few months back and it's the best thing that I ever did, if at any time you start to worry then give them a call as they were very good at reassuring me that I was doing the right thing and that my creditors would eventually play ball (although to be honest, all mine were A OK straight away).

I don't have any experience with HBOS but just stick with it and things will I'm sure work out :-)

I can't offer more advice than what others have already said on here so GOOD LUCK!

They are in breach of OFT debt collection guidance. This is harassment. There is guidance here

Oh dear, how sad. They will get over it. You need to do what is right for you now. Don't even think about pleasing them - it is not what matters. You need to be your number one advocate. Well done!!! :)

You will be fine, even if you do end up in court, whats the worst that will happen ? They cant take what you havent got. Stepchange will be there to back you all the way. I think theres very little chance hbos will take it further, they will accept what youre offering or get nothing ...

Keep cheery, youre doing all the right things. :)
