Sending aerosol cans

Does anyone know if you can send aerosol cans in the UK by Royal Mail. I phoned them this morning and told that this is no longer allowed, unless you are a business, however I'm confused as their website seems to say that you can send aerosol cans in the post as long as they contain under 500ml of product and have a ID8000 label attached. Unless I've misunderstood the information on their website?

According to leaflet RMDG1A 'Prohibited and Restricted Items' you cannot send them abroad but in the UK they are permissible if sending no more than two max 500ml, tightly packed and with valves protected to prevent inadvertent release of contents. They must be declared at the counter and sender's name and address must be visible.

What do the aerosols contain?
The 2 item/500ml limit only covers toiletry and medicinal aerosols and anything else is totally prohibited.

Thanks, it would fall under the toiletry category. Even though their guidelines online look as if I could post, the two people I spoke to at Royal Mail today insisted I wasn't allowed to post, as I'm not a business seller. I will have to see what they say when I go to the post office to post them tomorrow!

Good luck. See if you can pick up the leaflet in the PO - it comes in a printed version.
