Mistake on advertising magnet

Hi there, quick question - I ordered some magnets for my driving school online. They arrived and were collected from my house by my instructors. One of the girls got home and then realised her number was wrong (just the last digit).

I checked I had emailed the correct number to the company and I had. I offered to send the item back or ideally email them a photo for a refund, they said just email a photo and they'd refund, which is great as it saves me going back to collect it from the instructor, wrapping it up and sending back to Ireland.

They received the photo but now say they want me to return it anyway as they could re-use it somehow. They say they'll refund the cost of the magnet but didn't mention postage to return it.

Is all this hassle necessary or should they just refund me as it was their mistake and the instructor can just throw it away?

Thanks for any advice.

Yes, they are within their rights to have the item returned, especially as they can resell it.

And yes, as it was their mistake they should refund any postage.

You should be put back into the position you were in before the order.

I guess parts could be reused etc and they are within there rights to ask for them back.

As said they should refund you return postage costs.
