We had no problem with Aviva following my in-laws' deaths last year although it took well over a year to get the sale completed.
    .

The same here with Aviva. They accepted my cheque, continued the insurance for a year, the only stipulation was that the property was checked weekly.

  • Sorry for your loss.

I'd go back to the insurance company and complain, it does seem like they're acting very unreasonably. I'm sure they should have policies in place for this eventuality..

they are not acting unreasonably, they have just stated they need payment, that's perfectly normal

They want payment but will not take payment from another source without a solicitor providing documents within an unreasonable time frame. How is that "reasonable" behaviour (to anyone outside of the insurance world) ?

I contaced her present insurers to inform them as her bank account is now frozen they will not be able to take any payment for premiums and can I provide them with new payment method

They will not do anything without grant of representation letter from a solicitor but this could take a while to sort out and the next premium is due next Tuesday

They said if it was not paid the insurance will cease
