As you wish but by solving one problem he gave you another and then recommended you spend money unecessarily. How that makes you happy is really quite beyond me particularly when, yesterday, you were ecstatically happy that you'd found a way round it by not spending that money. He did change the pressure at the main stop tap at the top of my drive.

Sorry but no he didn't. The only place the pressure can be changed is at the company pumping station. What he did was to closed the company stop tap a little to reduce the flow rate. The pressure on the upstream side of a tap is the same whether it is opened or closed. As you open it you increase the flow rate as you close it you decrease the flow rate. Whether its' the company stop tap or your internal stopcock or the hot tap in your bathroom its exactly the same.

Don't know if its just me but I'm starting to fail to see the point of this thread now.

You're the one thats keeping it going ! I said i was happy, i'm not really bothered what he did, or who controls the flow or the pressure, all i know is that my shower works !

I don't want to offend you as you patently know more about plumbing than i do (and possibly my plumber neighbour) so please don't take offence !

Oh I'm not taking offence at all. Just trying to tell you which way is up. Whether you want to listen, though, is entirely a matter for you to decide.
