A business reason to close my account

I have tried today to log onto my bank account and it said that I had to contact the secruity reason, which I did and I was told for business reasons they have closed my account for no reason what so ever! I think it is a joke! Does anyone know on here how to get a reason why? What numbers to call (not 0845) to find out why? How to complain etc..

Firstly a little more information might be helpful such as who is the Bank that is closing your account, how you run your account and so on.
You will probably get a letter in the post giving very vague reasons as to why they have closed your accounts. You could complain in writing to the bank, though that won't change there mind.
Or complain to the ombudsman that may or may not work.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -

The bank that is closing my account is Natwest. They don't have to give you a reason. Something on your account will have triggered this action but they aren't obliged to tell you what it was.
Do you have dealings with funds from abroad or unusually large credits or debits ? Or even use the account for business purposes ? Even if it's just Ebay buying and selling they might class it as business use. Have there been any unusual transactions recently ?
Whatever their reasons, open a new account as soon as you can, it's unlikely they'll look at reversing their decision.0 -
Not having had a bank account closed pn me, hw do banks deal with refunding the balance once the accounts are closed, and dealing with upcoming direct debits? Do they issue a cheque for the balance, waiit until you give them new account details ,or something else?0

Closure by us
7.1.1 We can close your account immediately if:
(a) we reasonably suspect that you have given us false information;
(b) we reasonably suspect that your account is being used for an illegal purpose;
(c) you behave in a threatening or violent manner towards our staff
; or
(d) you were not entitled to open your account.
7.1.2 We can also close your account by giving you not less than 60 days’ notice before we close your account.0 -

Upcoming Direct Debits would get returned to the beneficiaries as "account closed". The balance would probably be refunded by cheque.
In general immediate closures are rare and most people who go through this receive some notice. OP, have you opened all your post sent to the address NatWest have on file for you?urs sinserly,
