I can't find how to download a pic and then save it in "pictures". They're going into Downloads and I can't find how to get them out.

When in Downloads, click once on the file, "move to" will be highlighted on the menu bar, then select the destination. Pictures should be on the options, if not select choose location after clicking "move to".
To change this is future, after right clicking brings up the "save as" menu, simply click onto pictures (or where ever you want it to go) on the left hand side. That is how you select a download destination folder.
There should also be a way to have pictures automatically go into the pictures folder by default, but i'd need to know your browser and version to help further.0 -
I'm on the latest version of firefox, downloaded it yesterday. I would like them to go into "pictures " yes. TY for that.
I have one other prob while I am here.. If I'm on a forum or page, I keep zonking the mouse too far over to the left, and that puts me onto another screen. Is there a quick way to get back to where I was? (I have to go to start then desktop to get back).0 -

If you want your pictures saved to a specific directory do Firefox, Options, Options, General Tab and then you can change the Downloads path to a directory of your choice or click the next box "Always ask me where to save files".

Maximise the Firefox window and then you shouldn't go onto another screen. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Ok will sort the firefoz out - but the window is max, still goes off into another screen. I will just need to be more careful with the mouse

Due to the touch stuff that's built into Windows 8, if you swipe your hand over the trackpad in the wrong way, it can zoom you into a different full-screen "Metro" app that you've had open; effectively it's a Task Switcher. What other screen? Do you mean another window-what else do you have open?
I expect this is what's happening to mardatha.
Something like this will enable you to switch it off, although your PC may have different drivers so the steps may be slightly different:

Also, to close one of those full-screen apps properly (so they don't come back when you swipe across), use the keyboard combination: Alt-F4. However note that this won't work for the Windows Start Screen.0 -
Ok ty , I like it ok, think it's better than 7, but that might be this lovely laptop. I accidentally deleted a pic this morning and couldn't find the bloody recycle bin - took me ages! This is the laptop I eventually picked -
