Fundamentally yes, but it doesn't stop me grumbling about capital gains tax.

As for the obvious question of why this wasn't in ISAs, some was share awards of various kinds, and I also wanted to use ISAs for serious savings while also "having a flutter" with some spare money.

I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
