Does anyone have a rain shower?

I would have posted this in the DIY section but I wanted family opinions of them :)

So does anyone have or have had a rain shower? I'm looking at getting a shower and don't know whether to go for this or a normal head one?

What are your opinions?

    Hi,

I fitted a new bathroom in our house last year and the shower has a rainshower head and a standard head.

I thought we'd use the standard head most of the time but all we use is the rainshower head.

You just need to make sure you can get hot water through it quick enough to get a good flow from the head. We have a worcester 30KW boiler and it works fine for us.

They are great...but very expensive to run...too much water is used. It would be cheaper having baths. Even if you are not on a water meter you will still need to pay for the gas or electricity required to heat a cylinder of hot water. If you have a combi boiler check the flow rate of the boiler is sufficient to provide enough hot water.

    Rainfall showers are great.
If you go for one, then accept these facts:
    1. You will use more water
    2. You will use more energy to heat the water
    3. You probably want a normal shower head on a hose as well - to reach the bits that are a bit more difficult to reach from above (I hope I'm not being too indelicate there ;) )
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?
  • We have a dual shower, it has a rain shower head, but also has a shower head that goes up and down a runner. It is linked into the same water feed, turn left for one, and right for the other.

DH has the rain shower I use the runner.
  • Hmm, I didn't think it would use that much water tbh. Think I'll stick to a normal head then as one of the reasons for a shower, apart from laziness ;) is the amount of water we use for a bath.

I'll look more into normal showers :) thanks guys.

You could always just keep an eye on the weather forecast and stand outside.
  • It sounds grand for playtime. To actually get soap & water targeted at areas 'under the canopy', a moveable head is strongly indicated. Also, should you ever find yourself with lower back pain, targeted hot water is a real blessing...
