When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. .

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Wooohoo! Tuesday :j Day 2 of my 6 week manic work phase! Worked until 10.30 last night :eek: Have decided the only way to get through this is to be super excited and positive and make the time fly! :j I'm am raring to go and up for it! Who is with me??

Yesterday made a super withdrawal from the bathroom fund and ordered the bath, sink, toilet & taps :eek: I know we've been saving to do the work but it is still hard to stomach seeing the funds disappear so rapidly. Let the manic times begin! :D

Things for the day:

* checked banking
* made small payment towards my £100 overspend on cc - £9.15 from scrap metal sold yesterday :p
* leave bag of items outside for charity collection
* take clothes to clothes cash converter place today - sure it'll only be a couple of pounds but anything is better than nothing!
* post parcels - print labels at work
* go and collect enay item - baby walker dgd's Xmas present (£7 instead of £20 new ;))
* dinner is left over beef made into a spag - will make enough to have a chilli tomorrow ;)
* go and collect blind for spare room from The Range near where I work (the one in our home town hasn't had any stock for weeks)
* quick shower
* Work, work Work!
* 30 day shred tonight
* bake biscuits & cake tonight for team meeting on Thursday
* something bathroom related is being delivered today - not sure what?

Ok better go get ready. Have a great day everyone. See you tomorrow! :A

    Morning :wave:

    Thanks for starting dnms. I'm with you! But hoping for a less manic day. My boss isn't in today so hopefully will be leaving dead on 5 :D

    My list for today:
    • Walk to station - done
    • Check bank - done, transferred a bit to savings so left with £5 for ipad sim direct debit that's coming out this week
    • Check CC - done
    • Update app - done
    • Lunch from home - sandwiches done
    • Remember to take lunchbox home done
    • Call car finance people and ask for an early settlement fee and if I can pay of a lump on CC - done, they are calling me back within 48 hours. I tried to calculate it myself but I'm sure I got the figures wrong. Current balance is £6724, 13 monthly payments of £221 left, have to pay £3850 at end... I got that paying off £2500 would reduce monthly payments to £55! Must be wrong lol
    • Sign and send off contents insurance docs - done
    • Call natwest CC and ask if they do balance transfers to current account, can do that to pay off my other cards so it's all in one place on 0% - ill do this once the car people have for back to me, not sure on the amounts I would need to transfer
    • Stay in at lunch (don't go to shops!)
    • Test getting he bus from work to the train station, it's slightly cheaper than tube but think it will take ALOT longer
    • Going to mums tonight, she's offered to take me out for an Indian :)
    • As not making dinner, will make sandwiches for lunch tomorrow and shift the meal plan to tomorrow
    • Put last lot of washing away
    • Quick tidy about
    • Studying if I have time tonight
    • In bed by 11pm
  • Hi everyone

    On leave this week and have spent too much already! Oh well will just have to rein myself in till payday :-)

    List for today

    Go to the.market and get some nice fruit and veg
    Go to the discount card shop for a supply of nice but cheap birthday cards
    Do some cleaning and ironing, I really hate it but am making the effort
    Early night tonight, too many late nights recently

    That's it x

    Morning, :wave:

    I'm with you DNM! I hear your battle-cry! :rotfl:

    Today I'm doing the fortnightly food shopping. This is usually my OH's job. I've been provided with a list which I've decoded. ("Darling, where in the supermarket should I look for "box" or "brown"?!" :huh:) I've been given the budget and instructed in which shops to go to, and to use the Clubcard and the vouchers and to take my own bags. Think I'm ready for Operation Shop now.

    The List:

    :starmod: Will not stray from the holy shopping list. Done. Came in at £1.50 under budget even though I snuck a wee bar of choccy into the trolley.

    :starmod: Check all accounts. Done

    :starmod: OH is at library on a course. Will use printer for free there. Done.

    :starmod: Forage for berries later. No time!

    :starmod: Job-hunting. Done

    :starmod: Find USB extension cable so that we can move our WiFi to where it gets a better signal so we use less time on the laptop. Done

    :starmod: Fix sticky 'N' key on laptop. Done.

    They can. I did it a couple of months ago. Only when I called the adviser didn't know that it was possible and I had to get his supervisor on the line to do it.

    Cheapest number to call NatWest or RBS credit cards on is 01268 508023.

    Hi Money-savers,
    Today's small things:
    *Finished dryng laundry on heated airer overnight on Economy 7 tariff. The very few large items still damp have been pegged back out on line. Lovely sunshine today.
    *Ran slow cooker overnight on Economy 7 to make chicken stock.
    *Did vast & horrid pile of ironing. Switched off for final garment.
    *Made the apple & mint jelly which had been dripping though the jelly bag all night. Our own homegrown apples & mint, so only had to buy sugar. Pantry stocking up well. Some jars will be tarted up & given as presents.
    Still to do:
    *Make chicken stew using rubber chicken divvied up yesterday. Pick beans to go with it.
    *Make apple sauce to freeze....didn't get round to it yesterday as felt all appled out.
    *Post competitions (no online entry so 1 x 50p stamp much better option than ringing 4 separate phone lines at silly rates).
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
    *Knit Christmas present. Back of jumper finished, will be casting on the front today.
    *If time, pot up tender plants from summer containers to overwinter in conservatory so I don't end up re-buying next year because they've all carked it in the first frost.
    *Keep checking emails to see if Debenhams have responded yet to my customer complaint.
    *Remind mr f to source new printer cartridges so I can get some stories sent off.
    I think that'll do me for today. Have a good day, everyone.
