Depends on what you want and need from the breakdown cover.

If you breakdown do you want to pay for the recovery and then claim the money back? Or do you want to pay more for a company to come and rescue you?

UK only? European cover? Home Start? Onward Travel, Caravan or Trailer cover?

    So many options.

Depends what you mean by value. The cheapest is probably Autoaid, but you need to be happy that you have to pay at the time of a breakdown and claim the money back later. Cashback deals can make others comparable.

    I use Autonational Rescue.
  • Just basic UK cover where I do not pay and claim costs back.

I have had no problems whatsoever with AutoAid.

Back when I had an interest paying current account, I had to call them out, pay on my credit card, and the cheque for the amount involved was sent to me so promptly, I paid it into my current account 2 weeks before the cedit card bill was due to be paid. OK, the interest for approx. £40 for 2 weeks wasn't a "king's ransom", but it made the Scottish bits of my DNA feel all warm & fuzzy.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

I've been with Autonational Rescue http://www.autonational.co.uk/autonational/breakdown_cover.jsp for several years now. I've never had a problem with their service.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Basic cover where you breakdown, They come out have a look and say yeah its broken then leave you there and say have a nice day?

Or do you want to be towed to a garage or towed home or even to your destination.

  • Never thought of that - full cover where I would be brought home and so on. Am thinking of looking at Asda or Tesco.

Another vote for Autoaid. You and spouse covered for any vehicle and it's home start, roadside assistance and recovery to anywhere on mainland UK all for £39

I've been with a breakdown tied to my insurance for years but have decided to change to Autoaid after the advice on here.
