Any idea on costs per sq foot on extension

Hi My first time posting (been lurking for years) so please excuse any obvious gaffs!

Does anyone have any idea how much it costs, approximately, for a single story extension. I have seen some previous quotes on here that mention a cost per square foot but always seem to be talking about 2 story build. My extension would be approx 20foot ling by 12 foot wide, pitched roof and stuck on to side of whole length of house - garage at front half - kitchen at back. I live in Doncaster

Broadly speaking you should be working on around £1k or above per square metre.

A QS near you should be able to give you a more specific answer.

i can get a single room extension done for approx 10k here in manchester. (say 12x12). absolute max would be 20k.

my mate in west london has just been quoted an eyewatering 100k for a double extension!
(i used to live next door to him)

Hi,

We are having a single storey extension across back of house.

It is going to be 5 and a half metres by nearly 4 metres. (Sorry don't measure in feet!)

We are having extra work done too and have been quoted between £18,000 to £50,000!!!

We are going for the £22,000 quote which includes knocking a loadbearing wall down and a chimney breast down too.

We had lots of different quotes so it would be worth getting a few!

Have you thought about architects and planning permission too?
