I am always very wary about what I disclose on Facebook and Twitter. I often wonder if insurance companies check facebook etc in the event of someone making a claim and perhaps reject the claim if they have announced on facebook status updates of their holidays etcThe best things in life are free.....0

I used to work for a company that ran competitions on behalf of very famous large companies - fizzy drink manufacturers, beer companies, car companies and so on.
It was the golden rule never to reveal anything to the public about the winners other than the very basic - "K Jones, Watford" for example.0 -
It's incredibly easy to find though...
1) You post your holiday on IWIWIW
2) Burglar Bill looks up company you won with, who will likely give, as LutonGirl said, your name and a town. (If your MSE/Pinterest/Instagram etc etc username contains your actual name, or you've posted your real name here on the FB thread, Burglar Bill's already halfway there already...)
3) A quick FB or Google search will reveal more of a location - if you're on the published electoral roll, chances are Burglar Bill can get a full address online.
4) Burglar Bill sets his phone alarm to remind him when you leave...
The internet seems like a friendly place, and I'm sure it is for the most part, but these are completely open forums... Be careful out there0 -
good advice!
reminds me of that pouty-faced girl... errr... can't remember her name, but she popped it on twitter that she was out and got burgled!0 -
Thanks for warning but in my case I don't mind saying I am going away as there are more peeps in my house when I am away than when I am at home! (Going by the dishes that are always in the sink when I get back anyway)Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media
