If i ask for dla to be lowered

If i ask for my dla to be lowered is it likely they will want to reassess and thus end up moving over to PIP. I suffer from mental health issues but at the moment with medication and starting work i feel like I'm a bit more stable but Im concerned if i ask for it to be lowered it will ended up reassessing me completely and moving it over to PIP which i doubt i would be eligible for.
Sorry i tried to search for an answer but i couldn't find anything.

Mental health issues are complex and it is very easy to believe things are going well and you are stable, only to relapse or have something trigger an episode. Hopefully that will not happen, but I personally would wait for your next reassessment and then fill the forms in honestly with the benefit of input from your psych team.

You might feel better today, OP, but tomorrow who knows?
If you volunteer yourself for the PIP onslaught I can't see that being beneficial for your mental health.
They will get around to reassessing you soon enough.
I would say nothing for now.0 -
If you do decide to request reassessment do it soon as it would still be DLA for the next few weeks...0

The OP may not be reassessed for several more years. I trust you are not suggesting they fail to notify a change in circumstances for all that time?
OP, have you spoken with your GP or specialist about whether you are ready to declare a permanent improvement in your health? I would take advice from someone that has a full picture of your condition.0 -

I advise you to go on the www.benefitsandwork.co.uk website & all your questions you should be able to get answers to.
When you register for free!, remember not to use your proper name.
I think you should stop as you are at the moment, depending on your age, you are going to be sent for a medical maybe soon enough , theres plenty of people working & on dla .

Thanks for the advice, I've been waiting to see how work was going with my issues and at the moment its okay but it may be best to speak to my doctor before just as they are wanting to go off me to go off medication which i feel would make me worse again so i guess with mental health its a bit difficult. But at the same time i dont want to feel like im lying about things. The dla helps with travel from work as i have to work late shifts and have anxiety issues about being out alone at night so its quite a bit of money to spend on traveling a month so im worried if they stop it completely i'm going to be worse off.
So if i did ask would it be pip or dla?0 -
Probably PIP if it is a re-assessment (likely).
It needs to be a permanent change - liaise with your GP in 3 months time, as a temporary improvement can be followed by a horrendous thud to earth (I have MH problems so been there!) and if you are still improving, then ask their advice, as they are trained to see longer term improvement.
You don't have to notify DLA of short term improvements, so don't do anything yet please0 -

Not suggesting that at all.
Just advising against telling DWP of a temporary improvement in condition. It would be daft to feel terrible for years, wake up one morning feeling way better, phone DWP declaring a change in circumstances and almost before you've put the phone down, feeling in the depths of despair again.
What's the point of that?
OP, at least wait a few months to see whether feeling better is going to last.0
