Hi. I have made a ppi complaint against mbna for my credit card. I filled out their complaints form but today they have telephoned me asking some questions including what was my salary in 2006, what sick benefits would I have been entitled to. I am not sure if I should be answering these questions particularly the salary question and I have already provided details of my sick pay. Does anyone know if these kind of questions are common and if I should be answering them? I am also not sure the relevance of 2006. When I answered the questions on their form I filled it out based on the time I took out the card back in the late 1990s. Thanks.

You can refuse to respond to any query, but realise that if you don't answer their questions fully and honestly your complaint is likely to be rejected.I am not sure if I should be answering these questions particularly the salary question
2006 is likely to be the length of time their records go back to, so if you haven't got any documentation of your own from prior to this then you can expect them to only payout from this date if your complaint is upheld.I am also not sure the relevance of 2006. Thanks for your help. I will supply them with the information they requested.0

It's possible you took the card out and then some years later the PPI was added. The likely reason they are asking about your salary is to calculate how much statutory redundancy pay you would have been entitled to. This calculation is based on age, length of service and salary and may make the redundancy coverage through PPI unnecessary.0
