Anyone know wether will have an aerial or phone point in our new home?

Does it vary from house to house? we are unsure wether we are going to have one and how much roughly the phone point will cost to get installed?

We brought a new house recently, as standard we had a phone point in the kitchen and in bedroom one, we've asked for one in the lounge and one in bed 3 and although we havent been told the actual costs yet i was told it would be approx £30.

We bought a brand new Barratt house 4 years ago and it cost me £150 to have an additional phone point installed in the Study, they were also quoting about 80 quid to upgrade single power points to doubles I'm sure they must be making a nice markup on those!

Also don't forget BT will charge you £125 to connect it up

As for Aerials you'll probably have a cable run into the loft from the lounge and maybe bedroom one (more if you're lucky) ready to attach an aerial to

Just moved to new Persimmon house, it varies with others

BT Line was in but £125 to connect
12 Month contract and the "buy-out" is expensive if you want to go elsewhere
This changed on May 1st
I moved in on 30th April

Most house have points for aerial and one can be fitted inside loft space

£180 was the quote I had so got SKY in ! (we had already in previous house,charged me £40 to move all dishes but negotiated a new SKY+ box in 2nd bedroom

I bought a new build last year. I paid extra for ariel & telephone outlets in two bedrooms. All new builds should come with at least an ariel and telephone outlet in the lounge/living room. This should be clearly shown on any plans.

I really resented paying BT £125, since when the engineer came to connect us, he must have been in our house for all of 5 minutes, including removing his boots and putting them on again.

Your builder should be able to supply you with a list of all fixtures and fittings, and the optional extras you can pay for. I am buying a new build (about 5 bricks high at the moment - due to complete end of Sept) and was given a detailed plan with all the power/'phone points in, and a list of included items right from the start. My solicitor insisted on seeing it before he passed on the contract. It does show me where the (3) 'phone points will be. Your builder must have such a plan, so worth asking for it.

It's exciting, though, isn't it, buying a new house?
