DLA/Motability Question

Hope this is in the right place.
I am in the process of changing a contract hire motability car to a Motability HP purchased car (not a new car) and have a problem with taxing the car I am purchasing.
Since I have a contract car now, I do not have possession of the car tax exemption form. In order to get the tax disc for the day I exchange cars, the dealer needs the exemption form or else I will be charged 6 months road tax. Motability/DWP have told me that I cannot request the certificate back until the day I return the contract hire car. Is it me or is this a crazy situation
The only solution I have been offered is to pay the 6 months road tax, then when I get the certificate claim a refund. The best case scenario then would be to lose a month's tax, but possibly more depending on how long it takes them.
Surely I'm not the only one that has been in this situation - any suggestions??
Thanks

No, it happened to me - I taxed the car for 6 months, and then claimed a rebate when I recived the exemption form and could tax it "disabled" class.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.
