mp3 on dvd-r

hi there

i friend has lots of mp3s stored on a dvd-r and wants to put them on his hardrive, is it a case of just copy and paste, i no with a music cd you have to rip it to the hardrive before it will play it from the hardrive. we tried riping it with windows media player 11 but that only works with cds.

if it does need riping are any good free software ? many thanks

Yes, if they are mp3 files you just copy and paste. No need to rip.
