Travel Insurance - Any condition?

Options
Just sorting out the travel insurance for our trip to the US among others and when I get to the medical screen it asks me for ANY conditions in the last 12 months for either of us.

The other half has had tonsillitis recently, I had a case of Bells palsy (apparently it rarely comes back - which is a good thing as it sucks..) and yet even though mine is slightly more extreme than the other half declaring those two items doubles the cost of the insurance - there's other more generic stuff, but this policy only accepts fly/colds as reasonable

There seems to be no acceptance of reasonable issues such as tonsillitis - does anyone know of an insurance policy which isn't this restrictive?

This was Columbus Direct - I am looking for alternatives...I'm not a walking time bomb of a human by any stretch, but I'm not paying double for something like a simple case of tonsillitis....

have you tried a quote from post office insurance.my oh has mild controlled asthma but most insurers up the quote because of it, post office never have
L&V are competitive for our annual cover but we have pre existing conditions to declare now. their on line medical screening was easy to fill in. its 15% cheaper to take out on line.
  • I doubt you would pay double just for tonsilitis. The question asked is have you had any medical conditions in last 12 months - the truthful answer you must give is Yes.
A lot of conditions will be ignored- I would think tonsilitis would be one of them.

You would think so. But its a couples policy and her 'half' of it doubles when I add it in.

They double it if you add anything...!
  • There are insurers that simply dont cover pre-existing conditions or allow you to exclude selective ones. If you are so confident about there being no chance of it coming back then exclude it from cover and thus preserve the lower premium
