Sudden attack of lazyitis....

  • I find this attitude of husbands wanting a cooked meal on the table when they come home from work rather perplexing.

I’ve been married for over 13..scratch that 14 years and never once have I EVER expected a cooked meal when I return home…
  • That's not lazyitis, that's exhaustion.
Besides which, sausage & broccoli are protein & a vegetable, which is a heap better than nothing.
If husband wants thumbs up grub on his return, he can cook his favourite dishes.

If you haven't thumped him, wept on him, abandoned him under offspring for at *least* five minutes & finally had a clear conversation with him about reasonable expectations, may I sugest a combination of the above?

Who says dinner has to be a certain way. Surely your husband can cope with the occasional sausage & broccoli, or cheese on toast for that matter for tea.

If this is your biggest "failure" as a mother and wife your doing pretty well!

This weekend why don't you and husband team up and batch cook or cook 3 different meals at once for the freezer. Sounds daft but it won't take longer to prepare several meals at once than 1 dinner, if you are both in the kitchen at the same time, with recipes and an extra pair of hands to chop and stir. So while making say Sunday dinner you can get another one or two dinners sorted too.
  • I don't have children but have a demanding job with a dodgy shift pattern and sometimes have days of exhaustion when the OH will be given a choice of cooking his own dinner or we get takeaway in! Or a very random assortment like on Friday, we had fish fingers, orzo, gravy and edaname peas. He doesn't mind at all.

My ex however was aghast if his dinner wasn't ready on the table, and that is why he is the ex!
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:
  • We all have good days and bad so don't let one 'random' meal put you off!! ;)

Thankfully OH and myself take turns or else share the majority of the cooking (although sometimes OHs idea of 'helping' me cook is laying all the raw ingredients out on the worktop, which takes 20 seconds, then I have the pleasure of actually peeling/chopping/cooking/serving for the next 30+ mins! :p)

Is the cooking always left up to you?
