How much would you consider 'Expensive' for a pair of trousers?

I only wear trousers for work, not in my "me" time, so I usually dont want to pay more than £20 for them. I either go to Tesco/ Asda or wait until House of Fraser or Debenhams have a big sale then get "good" ones then.0

Thanks for the replies.
I meant for everyday (but smart) trousers. I am looking at a few pairs from Next etc for £50ish.0 -

I'd say that as your signature tells me that you're debt free and have money left in the grocery budget you can buy the Next trousers if you want them! Go for it!0 -
Whenever I have bought trousers from Next the hem has come down in the first wear.
I buy Marks' generally for work (£25-£30) as they wear well and still look smart (not shiny) or Principles for a suit."I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0 -
Thanks maman
I am feeling a bit guilty about treating myself to some new clothes, but it's been so long as i have concentrated on paying off debt.
But i really do need some!0 -
What is expensive is different for different people.
If I had a job interview I might think £100 would be worth it for a pair of trousers. I have two pairs of trousers from Hobbs bought in their final sale reductions, I would not pay full price for them unless I needed to buy a suit urgently.
However, if I did not need to dress particularly smartly for work I would wear much cheaper trousers and keep the pricier ones for meetings etc.0 -
It depends what it's for. You say everyday smart trousers. I guess I'd spend £30 maximum but it depends what you can afford. I agree with buy cheap buy twice. If you can afford it go for it.0

As above Hobbs in the sale is really good, TK Maxx if your in the mood for a hunt is very good too, There is a lot of Clavin Klein, DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger in my local one, they also have amazing Armani suits if your looking for investment long term. Also depends on your own style, M&S, Next etc are fine if you like/need classic for everyday.:happyloveThank you, thank you, thank you :happylove0

Do you live near an outlet village? They are usually good places to stock up on good quality trousers for work.
There's no way I'd pay Next £50 for trousers. They used to have decent quality stuff, but it seems dreadful now.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
Mark & Spencers or Next for trousers.
Levis, Gap or Next (or some M&S) for jeans.0
