Debt has disappeared like magic...

I had a payment returned from a collection company. I was really confused because I thought there was at least £3,500 left to pay.
Today I received a letter from them saying my account has been satisfied. I am baffled as I certainly haven't satisfied it. The debt as been with the collection agency since 2007.
Any ideas? Could it be a mistake?
Thanks,

Hi
It could be a mistake.
It could be that they have recently sold on your debt to another debt collection agency and so that their records show that the debt to them is satisfied.
Presumably you have been paying it monthly and just this months has been returned?
I'd wait a while and see if anyone else contacts you, or if indeed the same collection agency contact you again.
Does the debt still show on your credit file? or has it dropped off if the default more than 6years ago?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

me too. if it raises it's head again, try to renegotiate, if you can. perhaps saving up a lump sum while they sort things out could help you to negotiate a settlement, or part-settlement. good luck.0
