eBay limiting P&P?

I listed a few things on eBay last night and set them all to 2nd class tracked, to which I put the price of £5 due to the weight (computer game plus guide) yet it said the limit for 2nd class is £3. Now, I know that things second class can cost more than that as I sent off something last week 2nd class tracked and it cost me £6.30
Its very frustrating and I had to upgrade to 1st class which will end up costing me more anyway.

Some categories are capped and you can't get round it. However, if you can pack the games to stay within a large letter size 1st class signed for up to 250g is only £2.30. even a small parcel will only be £4.10 1st class signed for or £3.70 2nd class signed for.

It really does pay to keep yoir p and p costs to a minimum by careful packing as you are of course now charged FVFs on the p and p charged.

  • I will with the other lone games but this one in particular is with a thick game guide and won't fit through a letterbox.

I'm not sure what a letter box has to do with it? RM sizes are completely random and you need to pack to stay within them.

Most books for instance would go as a small parcel and I imagine a game in a box can't be much thicker than that.Go to the PO have a try at the small parcel guage and pack accordingly, or for a slightly rougher guide get the depth measurement from the RM website.

Because whether or not it can fit in a letterbox determines what kind of parcel it is along with the weight.

No it doesn't, and anyway if they used my letter box on an original arts and crafts house you would be lucky to get a postcard through :rotfl:

The sizes are clearly defined. There is 'letter' 'large letter' 'small parcel' and 'medium parcel' Each have their own sizes. A standard game or DVD size box in a jiffy bag would fit large letter.

    Sizes and explanations are here:

just to confuse you there are also exemptions in the small parcel size for cubes and poster sized items, but your game is unlikely to need that exemption.

Send by courier. My Hermes will send up to 2kg for £4.20 fully tracked. They will either pick it up from you or you can drop it off at a local shop. Or try collect plus. They are a little more expensive but seem to have more drop off shops.
