    Thanks alot!

Just won one, and my mate won one! (hopefully we can do different departure dates, so we can spend a few extra days in amsterdam!)

I have to go to bed, but these are so addictive!

OK I hope you don't mind this but I've been researching holidays as I'm almost at the end of my HND in Travel and Tourism and I found this:

    http://www.travelscope.co.uk/amsterdam-mini-cruise.html

Which seems like a better deal than the other one for people who are going to find it hard to get to Newcastle for departure as there is an option of getting a coach to the ferry for an extra £10.

Theres also this one which is a little more but also inlcudes some meals:
    http://www.travelscope.co.uk/dutch-summertime-cruise-and-amsterdam2.html

For someone like me who lives miles away from Newcastle this works out cheaper as I'd have to get a train from here to Newcastle costing about £75 for 2 people and get 2 nights in a B&B for the night before we go and the night before I come back. So this whole "free" cruise would end up costing me about £240.

How are you managing to enter more than once a day? without a lot of hassle.

Has anyone won one of these lately? I wonder if they're any left. Just been trying for 20 minutes for a friend. Spoke to her lastnight, and apparently she's been trying everyday to win one so I said I'd have a go for her today.
Why don't you point her in the direction of the Travelscope link I gave? Would work out cheaper than "winning" one.

Thanks black-saturn. Don't think it would work out cheaper for us though. Better if she gets a free one for the same date as us then can split fuel costs to and from, and parking. Planning to take our own food except for maybe one meal, so it's going to be very cheap. And it's not quite the same as that other cruise offer because we get to spend a day in Amsterdam whereas that one was for an hour and a half or something silly, which I wouldn't bother with.

Pretty much giving up though anyway, unless anyone has one that they're not going to use now??!

In line with what Strepsy just said, the difference here is that you get (in theory) about 8 hours ashore...

    Arrive at Amsterdam: 9:30am

    Departure check-in runs from 3:00pm - 5:45pm

For the Stavanger trip, the timings essentially had you checking in for the return trip as soon as you arrived, so it really was just a cruise.
I do agree however that there are some 'overheads' to be taken into account.

As a few have mentioned, there's no reason why you shouldn't take your own food aboard, however car parking is an issue. DFDS: "Car Parking is available at the terminal for £8 a day", so as the trip spreads over 3 days, you're looking at £24 in car parking, then there's petrol.

To drive up (from Nottingham), I worked out about £40 in total...a quick search on virgin trains gave me a £10pp value advance single in each direction, so again £40, but without the hassle of traffic jams and FAR more relaxing.

Thanks, muffin_man, your tip worked a treat, and I managed to get one at about 12.30 am. So they are still there to be had. I wonder if they have so many to give away each day ~ which is how I read it.
