perhaps it has...it sounds unusual to me, but i suppose it is in the cardholders court to ensure that he/she is paying enough to cover the interest each month. getting it paid down asap has to be the best way forward.

He's going to get the card paid off ASAP. I'll get him to write to the bank, it's worth the cost of a stamp. You never know !

Thanks Planteria, they are HSBC, what number should he call them on as customer services have not been very helpful or knowledgeable in the past.
