How to cancel gas account.
Does anyone know if it is possible to have a gas account cancelled?
I have recently refurbished my house, and have no use for gas, as I have installed an air source heat pump. The gas is now completely redundant.
I am however paying my utility provider (Spark) a standing cost for gas, which I would like to do away with.
Is it possible once you have been connected onto mains gas to get off it? I don't mind the gas pipes coming on the property, but I don't want to pay for the privilege when I don't use the service any more.

You can have it capped off and the meter removed. But if you ever want a gas supply again you'll have to pay for it to be restored. No free lunch, and no free laptop
