Incorrect addresses on Experian credit report

So I finally managed to get my statutory report from Experian. I was recently declined a mortgage at the credit check stage - everything looks perfect in terms of no missed payments, etc. However, it has a number of incorrect addresses on it.
First, the 'linked addresses' area has a number of incorrect addresses (totally wrong) and others that are wrong in terms of having the wrong post code. Is this a major issue? I don't like it either way...
Next, on the section that shows past searches there are some issues:

- I recently had a check done by Nationwide for a mortgage, and that address has a * in the middle of it for some reason. Does it mean anything? I thought it was only an issue if an asterisk was in the margins...
- One of the searches was against the wrong address. It appears that when I was declined for a First Direct account they didn't have a new copy of the postal address file maybe (house is 7 years old), so they seem to have checked against another house with a similar name at a different post code. Is this an issue?

This will be the main reason for getting declined. For ages I thought it was to do with my defaults, but it was actually because the addresses on both Equifax and Experian were out of date...The thing is, after several letters with utility bills etc, they still refuse to update their systems.0

Thanks, jeystone - that's not encouraging.
I keep getting declined for credit (aside from a credit card with my main bank), which is very frustrating. My actual credit history is flawless!

Yeah took me years to figure out the address mismatch thing...It finally clicked when I got declined from a basic account with no credit check...To be honest, the only way to make sure they will update the details is, to sue them under the Data Protection Act 1998 (holding inaccurate data), part 8 form order for specific peformance...

Were you be able to get them correct the errors?
My statutory report didn't have any information on it. It's been 2 weeks now and I still haven't heard from them regarding the errors in my report.0 -

I don't think they care much...to them their data is the absolute truth, and you are a liar...even with proof of address letters0 -

We reply to all the queries we receive so you will hear back and I'm sure we'll be able to help with these issues. We obtain regular updates to the Postcode Address File and also from local councils for the electoral roll, so any address changes should come through fairly quickly.
We certainly do care about data accuracy. It's a top priority for any credit reference agency.

You guys need to really pull it together with getting the current address right, you are playing with people's lives here
i.e. my address flat 4, example st, only appears as flats 1-10, example st on your system...THERE IS NO FLAT 4 OPTION, which means I am essentially blacklisted as I have no address0 -

I am also seriously considering legal action against your company, which I will win, because my report is so uselessly out of date
Give me a direct address or phone number/email which I can contact to get my address fixed
I know you think you are above the law what with all these banks backing you, but a class action lawsuit is coming your way if you continue act so recklessly0 -
The problem I have is that I'm not on the electoral roll. I'm a permanent resident with ILR who has been in the country for years, but not eligible to be on electoral roll.
My address is in the PAF, but the addresses on my file includes ones that are not even in the PAF are are totally invalid. (some are valid but none mine, though)0
