reclaiming bailiff fees

Beg to differ Buzby, Ive never paid a bank charge in me life.
I'm far too greedy to be paying somebody for nothing lol.
I genuinely don't understand this sentiment, the view that bank charges are "for nothing". The bank safeguards your money, it provides access to it anywhere in the world through cashpoints, and in various currencies without you having to pre-arrange which one you'll want when. It pays your bills directly from your account, saving you having to write and post cheques, and will lend you money for things such as purchasing a house.
These things are not "nothing", yet time and time again on here we have people implying or explicitly stating that the banks are "taking their money" for "nothing".0 -
I appreciate that there is some overhead for administration, however to have a bailiff serving you with two notices for the same client, at the same time and then adding their three figure charge to it could be seen as over the top.

I don't understand your sentiment, the banks make more than enough from having our money and investing it, the profits they make every year and the bonuses they pay are scandalous.
I'm not saying that what banks do isn't great, as you said the convenience of them these days is fantastic, but their charges for things can be ridiculous when they are already making so much from their investments and interest rates.
Back to the OP, I haven't reclaimed any bailiff charges but OH did have to get an issue escalated to the ombudsman against our local council which found in his favour and got all charges wiped off and even left him having made an overpayment on council tax. He didn't get the money back as cash but did get it transferred to our new address so had a reduction the following year.
It did take months of having bailiffs calling at the house and threatening to break in, putting a levy on a car owned by me not OH and refusing to remove the levy even when given proof of ownership, adding incorrect charges for attending when no entry had been gained to the property. The council denying having any control over it, not responding to the questions posted above, refusing to double check records and add up amounts paid and refusing to respond to us. The ombudsman was the only place left for us to go and because we had evidence of everything they found in our favour.
ETA: BTW OP I am also in SW so possibly the same council as you.0 -

neither the bailiff or the bailiff firm can charge a debtor administration fees legislation does not allow this
the 2 notices you received with the three figure charge
was this notice of seizure of goods and inventory
or 2 letters hand delivered charging an attendance to remove fee
Has a bailiff ever been in your home to levy goods or has your Vehicle been leviedI am not an expert I am self taught i have no legal training any information I post is based on my own personal experience and information gained from other web sites

Perhaps Ive just been lucky that I have never needed to.
My bank makes charges for services they provide. They were not applied unfairly or unknowingly. I have several accounts with different banks, a few of the accounts have no monthly maintenance costs but if you are fortunate not to need services they charge for - fine. Luck has rarely anything to do with it, just a very limited requirement.0
