A car loan was taken out for 10,000 total credit, And the loan has now 2,200 left to pay on it.

Would welcom be able to take the car back even though its not on HP? Its just a straight loan for the vechile?

Do you mean they are saying they can forcibly repossess the vehicle if you don't keep up with payments?

Or are they saying they would be willing to purchase the vehicle from you and use the proceeds from selling it to put towards the outstanding loan balance?

Does your original loan agreement state that it is an unsecured loan?

Yes its a loan and not HP.

They are saying by not keeping up with payments they can sieze the car

They cannot seize your car if it was an unsecured loan.

They could commence court action against you and try to obtain a CCJ.
If they obtained a CCJ and you still didn't pay they could then instruct bailiffs to enforce the judgement.
And then your car may be seized by bailiffs to repay the debt.
