Boilers and Warranties

We are having a new boiler installed soon and currently trying to decide which one etc.
We were initially looking for a Worcester based on reputation and the 7 yr (or 8 depending on what is installed) warranty if we use recognised installer (we used their webpage to find local companies and got them in for quotes).
Two recommended the 28CDi compact boiler.
Third has suggested the 29cdi classic boiler.
Third has also recommended Baxi Platinum HE as they are offering a 10 yr warranty.
This has thrown me - I hadn't considered any other brand and feel I need to restart my whole research and decision making.
So, can anyone tell me which boilers manufacturers they would recommend for condenser boiler in a 3 bed terrace house with 8 rads!
We want it to be efficient and reliable - currently have BG Homecare which we would get rid of as the warranty would cover the boiler but need the warranty to be worthwhile.
We were told the worcester warranty is excellent and they come out really promptly to repair etc as it is worcester who come out not local tradesmen.
We don't mind spending the money now to avoid it later on - quote so far range from £1600-2500 (upper end being the BG one obviously!)

My Dad (a retired electrical engineer) says that the electrics on Worcester boilers are carp and told me not to buy one unless I knew a good sparky who will fix it every 3 months for nothing.
My plumber friend said that it doesn't always pay to buy 'expensive' well known brands as they are difficult (and therefore expensive) to work on and replacement parts are harder to fit without dismantling the whole boiler.
I currently have a Baxi which is nearing the end of it's life. It's 14 years old and its starting to play up. The good thing about it is that it is an absolute doddle to work on.
Gloworms are a favourite brand of my plumber friend, because parts are cheap, they are easy to fix and they do the job well. I've not had one before though so can't recommend them from experience. You had me at your proper use of "you're".0 -
^ LOL. Have my Worcester Bosch 30CDi for over 2 years now. Had it serviced a few months ago and the readings were as good as any brand new boiler. That's after two years of solid service.
Boilers aren't repaired by electricians. They're repaired by qualified and accredited heating engineers. I wouldn't let an electrician near my boiler!Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0 -
Same here, just had my three year service and its still running more efficiently than its specification. Its run trouble free, as has my parents and grandparents, who had theirs fitted at the same time.0

I repair combis for a living. Worcester and Baxi are good and have good after sales help. If you like hanging on the phone for hours on end get a glow worm or Vaillant. Parts for Worcester are generally cheaper than cheap boilers who make more money from spares.0

what you save in WB parts you will more than make up for in labour charges, WB are the biggest PITA to work on,
no hanging on the phone if you phone the priority line
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
