John Lewis purchase faulty

I bought a new Hotpoint built in oven from John Lewis a few months ago, still under warranty.

Yesterday the control knob for the oven came off in my hand when I tried to turn the oven off. It had broken inside. There are cracks inside another control knob too.

I have looked at the warranty and there is a technical support line to use in the case of a breakdown and an 0845 number for John Lewis itself.

I gave up on this after being on hold for 25 minutes.:(

Am I ringing the right department or is there another one I should be trying? There's no other number on the paperwork.

Can't believe a new oven can have a design fault like this.
