Major Renovation & Council Tax

If you put a camp bed in one of the bedrooms and a few items in the same room you are living there.
Council Tax is more involved than that before a person is regarded as being resident.I intend to make sure I get my full allowance on the current house whilst we repaint it before the tennants move in.
There is no reduction for re-painting (unless you moved the all of the furniture out and even then the rate of reduction depends on the local authority).I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -

I should have made it clear, the quote above is correct - and I have checked with our LA they allow 1 month per annum based on the property being empty.0 -

They must be giving a reduction under a Class C discount (unoccupied and unfurnished) and not Class D discount (a property undergoing works).I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals.
