Support for arthritis?

Have just seen hmc's similar question but didn't want to hijack the thread!
My 12 yr old dog has a touch of arthritis in her hips, the vet suggested it might be a good idea to give her a bit of support in terms of a glucosamine product. He was about to give me the one he sells but took a look at the price and said it was expensive and to be honest I could find something much cheaper online or even in a pet shop. (I obviously look v poor but it was good of him to say that!!) He also said a product for humans would be fine.
However I've looked online and there seems to be so much, can anyone recommend something basic and simple?
Thanks

Just posted this link in the other thread - it lists fab supplements for arthritic conditions - http://dogaware.com/health/arthritis.html
When my dog had hip dysplasia, I just used supplements from Holland & Barrett. Nowadays theres tons of shops selling a huge variety of products. Healthspan and Zipvit are pretty well priced. One thing to watch for in human products are the other ingredients, e.g. the anti-caking ingredients in capsules etc., and whether they're safe/good for dogs.
With dog-specific products, I've heard great things about JointAid.0 -
My mutt has arthritis in his front paws and shoulders.
I was giving him this for a while....Dorwest Glucosamine & Chondroitin Tablets...but although I thought it might have been helping him at the start, I was getting the feeling it just wasn't doing that much iyswim.
I then switched him to Yumove Joint Supplement which has more in it that the last product and although it's early days, he seems to be doing better on this and isn't as stiff as he was.
You're right though, there's a confusing amount of choice out there, I picked those two simply because I'd read other people's views and these two seemed to be popular.Herman - MP for all!0 -
