New years eve break

Hello all, this is my first post and I need some help.
I have been split up from my wife for a year now and think Ihave got custody sorted out for now.
I have my two boys (3 and 10) for a few days over new years and want somewhere fun to take them where there will be other families enjoying the occasion.
Money is quite tight so unfortunately centre parcs is off the menu , I was looking at pPontius but a few people have warned me off of it, butlins seem quite expensive too.
Any codes / deals or advice would be appreciated.
I live in Essex so ideallydo not want more than a couple of hours drive..

Thanks in advance.

    What is your budget?

You say Centre Parcs is too expensive - and at £1000 for 4 nights I completely agree!

Butlins (minehead and skegness) is £526 for new year at the moment -but the 50% off sale ends today. I think this is a good deal as the swimming pool at Skegness in particular is brand new with flumes, rapids, lazy river etc, plus the fairground is free. there will be lots of shows on that will also be free - so once you are there you don't need to spend a lot on entertaining the children. Food does not need to be expensive as if you get an apartment you could could easy ready meal type foods just as at home.

I a not sure you will get a holiday much cheaper at New Year - apart from Pontins

I think todays Butlins price is a good one, not sure it will go down anymore for New Year's Eve but if you register with the Butlins site and save a quote for new year in their system - they them email you with special offers for those dates you have saved quotes for...
they have regular 50% off offers so you just need to check the Butlins site every week for the dates you want.

I have 3 different quotes registered with them at the moment and the prices vary enormously week to week!

Butlins would be a very good family break with lots for you all to do together. Swimming and fairground are all free once you are there, plus adventuree playgrounds, not sure if the ice rink they have at Christmas will still be there - but you can check on the website.

Pontins is coming up with £350 but i have no idea what the holiday would be like. I know Pontins has a bad reputation, but i believe the accommodation is being upgraded. Have you looked at recent reviews of the Pontins you are thinking of? Do you know what entertainment there would be at New Year? What is the pool like? Does it have the facilities that you would want for family time together? Have you looked at reviews of what it was like last New Year?

It is hard finding family friendly places for New Year, not sure what else there is other than Centre Parcs, Butlins, Pontins....

I am having the same dilemma, but if it was me i would rather save like mad, spend less on their presents and book Butlins and then have a wonderful family time together. Once you are in you don't have to spend a lot, but they will have wonderful magical memories.
