For example, take an 16GB iPad 2. £329 at PC World, Argos, Very, Apple, Maplin, Misco, etc...

Or, take an XPS 18 Portable All-in-One Desktop.

    PCW cash price - £1264.99.

PCW price including finance - £1617.20.

Dell price (with an extra 180GB on the HDD) - £699.

As the OP is planning on buying a MacBook, could you please repeat those figures with a MacBook instead...?

Do you have links? I couldn't find the XPS 18 on PC Worlds website.

Neither could I, I also checked out their business side and nothing like that model at all.

I did a google shopping search and it came up with about seven different models at varying price ranges (£599-£1099) being sold by Dell directly only and one model at john lewis for £899.

I have always found PC World to be reasonable with Apple prices compared to other places, I got macbook pro for £720 when everywhere else was selling them for £999, that was for a clearance model, early 2011 model bought late 2011 (everywhere else including Apple were still selling them full price) plus I had my brothers staff discount off which was the best part of £100. Even without the discount it was a great price for it.
