Okay basically, I accidentally stood on my Macbook Pro. I checked my Mac and realised the screen had all cracked! I feel sick. I check on the website and it turns out that it's still in warranty with Apple... Can I still get them to fix it for free for stupidly standing on it?

In a word no, warranties cover manufacturers defects not accidental damage.

See if your home insurance will cover it.

if its still in warranty, you could try. The worst they'll do is say no
  • The only way Apple would repair this under warranty if Applecare+ was in place, however this has not been available in the UK (althought I think it is now available for iPhones). Physical damage is highly unlikely to receive a free repair. A new screen for a MBP from Apple is in the region of £500 to replace.

It's worth going back to Apple, they're good with goodwill gestures/reduced priced refurbs etc etc even in the case of accidental damage.

They don't have to do anything though. Your house insurance may be another avenue to pursue.

I dropped and broken sceen of my iPad 2 days just after buying it and apple gave me a replacement free of charge as a goodwill gesture. So go to the store and ask, what's they worst they can say?

I've had mine repaired under warranty (shut it with a pen on the keyboard) I however have the education plus plan.
