Experian monthly subscription - is it worth it?

I am currently paying £14.99 a month, I am unsure what value I am getting for this apart from watching my credit score from time to time and getting spurious alerts and that some company is watching my account etc?

They also say they can match my credit history to available credit cards and loans... sure they do, they get a juicy commission!!

Would be grateful for any feeback on this.

That is what you are paying for.
The free trial is great value. But the subscription confuses me. Do you do much that will dramtically change your rating on a monthly basis? I checked mine took the recomendations on board then cancelled it.
  • how much to get the actual score?

what is the difference to paying £2 each month to get a credit report?

what are you getting for the difference? (14.99 - 2.00)?

do ALL organisations use same criteria for deciding financial decisions?

read similar threads about this kind of thing.

summary = overpriced product to give false sense of security?

I personally don't think so. There's no need to check your credit reports every month. Just check them before any new credit applications, or every six months if you don't apply for anything.

£15 is far too much for what you are given. You're basically paying for a 'score' that means nothing and instant access to data which you don't need.

As above - get the statutory report every 6-12 months for £2.

the only advantage of the monthly fee over the £2 reports is that the monthly one updates daily so can be useful if you want to monitor for some changes in your file.
Most of the time you wont really need this and the single reports are enough

but at £14.99, its just too steep for that small advantage

  • Waste of money. Just get the £2 reports as and when you need them.

£9.99!!! You've lost the plot get shot of it you don't need to pay that.
  • Thanks to everyone who chipped in on this one. I cancelled my subscription today. The guy attempted to try and change my mind, offered me a reduction, then offered me some other plan in case I become a victim of fraud. Cheers all.
  • The law, data protection etc gives you all the protection if you have fraud committed against you that you need. It's another case of Experian selling something that is worthless but sounds good to the gullible.
