All girls or mixed secondary school?

Hello again everyone.
Thank you again to all who have shared their experiences with me (and everyone else :-)).
Well to update you all, we went to the open evening for the girls school and were very impressed by what we saw.
The feel of the school, the girls' confidence and manner spoke volumes.
The opportunities that are available to our dd are far better than those at the mixed academy.
The other good thing is the 6th form college is attached to the higher school so in theory they teach the girls from 11-18.
Our dd has expressed a preference to attend the all girls school so have nominated it as our 1st choice.
Now all we have to do is wait and hope .....along with everyone else til decision day in march
Good luck to all that are applying for places :-) hope you get lucky .My beloved dog Molly27/05/1997-01/04/2008RIP my wonderful stepdad - miss you loads:Axxxxxxxxx:Aour new editionsSenna :male: and Dali :female: both JRT0 -

Oh yes it wins, hands down, no contest!!!!
Now I'm worried if she isn't offered a place.
They do everything up there she loves, she has danced from a very young age (tap, ballet, then street dance, musical theatre and now she does gym too). The school is heavily into its arts not just performing but all aspects, (as you well know).
Our dd isn't even daunted that only 4 other girls from her primary attended the open evening (1 has chosen as 1st preference, 1 already has a sibling there and the other 2 dd said they still want to check out the other academy)
Totally different from the academy, although I feel bad for saying it as our ds is there, but in fairness the boys school would have been torture for him as he gets on better with girls.
Out of curiosity, how did you work out what the schools were?My beloved dog Molly27/05/1997-01/04/2008RIP my wonderful stepdad - miss you loads:Axxxxxxxxx:Aour new editionsSenna :male: and Dali :female: both JRT0 -

Out of curiosity, how did you work out what the schools were?
I went there years ago, like the 80s, years ago :rotfl:- I suspect it's very different now.
Dead simple to work out if you know Hastings. There aren't that many all girls non selective state schools in the country. Combine that with the dates you mentioned about academy conversions and the Ipad school (which my friend has whinged about non stop to me...) and it was an easy guess.
I loved my time at Helenswood and I'm sure your DD will too - like I said earlier on the thread, it was the making of me. Not sure Grove/Hillcrest would have made me the confident, assertive (bolshy) person I am.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
