Genuinely soft bedding - where can I buy?

Have you looked at jersey sheets? They were really popular about 10 years ago. They took a bit of getting used to because they are so soft they don't have the same cool crispness of freshly washed sheets. I love mine but, to be honest, they've completely had it now (I've re-sewn one of the seams on the duvet cover and the fitted sheet went about a year ago) but as I'm trying to buy a house I'm putting off getting more bedding until I know what size room and therefore what size bed I will have. Mine weren't from M&S (I got a cheaper alternative) but they do them too. http://www.marksandspencer.com/Marks-and-Spencer-Jersey-Bedset/dp/B0047R90Q20

I have 300 tc Egyptian cotton sheets and duvet covers that cost me a fortune 14 years ago, and they are as soft as silk and still looking as good as the day they were bought
Last year I bought some brushed cotton sheets for the spare room as it's a cooler less used room, and dd has said she loves sleeping in there when she stays as the sheets are so soft. I bought a set for my bed in the winter and yes they are soft and warm, too warm for the summer0 -
The best sheets I've ever bought are from John Lewis (1000 thread count) and although they are hellishly expensive, they are worth every penny and will last for years. They have a lovely sheen and actually get softer with time. They're as soft and smooth as silk, and I think they will last decades, so are actually an economic buy. They also do the fitted sheets, duvet cover, pillowcases etc and you will never want to sleep on anything else, I guarantee it.

JL also do flannelette sheets
Wow luxurious but I daren't work out the cost for two sets for a kingsize bed with six pillows. :eek:0 -

Yes, they are very expensive, but they last decades, so worth every penny, and are wonderful to sleep on. I got the superking size duvet cover as I always buy a size up: kingsize bed gets a superking duvet, and double gets a kingsize etc for the overhang. Plus, I am thinking of getting a superking bed when I replace my current one, so I shan't have to buy more duvet covers.
You can always build your bed set up over time. Start off with a fitted sheet and then buy the pillowcases etc at a later date. The colour is white so it's easy to match0 -
