ASDA delivery failed

Judy a quick one on behalf of my daughter.
She is a student so on a very limited budget. Ordered a deliver from ASDA to arrive last night. It didn't. When she contacted them today, they say they have cancelled the order (no explanation) and her money will be refunded in 3-5 days. This was paid for with the last of her money before the next loan kicks in. Now, I could transfer some funds to her, but the issue is that ASDA have left her with no food and no money. Does she have any recourse against them?
Cheers, jc

Yes she can get a refund for the failed delivery...and a free delivery for the next shop (not that she'll ever want it again). They will offer a money off her next shop voucher too...but again she won't want it as it might happen again.jimmy_cricket wrote: »Judy a quick one on behalf of my daughter.

Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Thanks happymj!
It does not dig her out of the hole of no money, no food. Really appalling service. From the tone of your post, it seems to me that this is on a par for ASDA.0 -
It's the same with all the delivery supermarkets - refunds aren't instant.
They all compensate around the same level
Looks like it is bank of Dad to the rescue - Thankfully for her.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Hang on, I didn't think they would have charged if they've completely failed the delivery?
Call the manager, make a fuss, why can't they fulfil the order now? Even if she has to get a taxi to collect it? (I would say push it to be at their cost)

They probably haven't charged the card - but they have authorized it for that amount and that takes a few days to drop off.
The bank account probably says something like Balance £51 available to draw £1 as it is seeing it as a pending transaction.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thanks all,
I'm not sure if she has checked her bank account, so might be worth doing. She is going by a garbled voice mail. She emailed ASDA to find out where the order was and they responded by telephone and when she didn't pick up, left a voice mail. The message wasn't clear, but they did say that the money would be refunded back to her, so assuming that they have indeed charged the card.0 -
I doubt they have charged her, many people would not understand if they said " the authorised / reserved amount will not be collected and will be available to you when the authorisation lapses", saying it will be refunded is simplerjimmy_cricket wrote: »Thanks all,

I suppose, but essentially to the account holder, there is no difference. If it isn't available, then she cannot spend it elsewhere, so as good as taken the money.0
