vauxhal service dealer

we have a problem with our vectra which our mechanic cannot fix.

basically the clip of the seatbelt got shut in the door and now the drivers door will not open. our mechanic (honest family friend) said it needs to go to the vauxhall dealership so i called them and asked for a quote.

they said they dont give quotes on the phone and we need to take the car in and pay £52 for a diagnostic test. i explained we dont need a test as we know what the problem is but didnt get anywhere with the receptionist so thought id ask here.

can they charge this £52 for disgnostic when the problem is apparent?

believe me we've tried and our mechanic has tried to get the door open and it wont budge.

Friend of mine went through something similar with her corsa, but hers was due to the little plastic seatbelt clip on her childs booster seat.

I dont recall her being charged for a diagnostic though!

Is there another Vauxhall dealership you can contact? Does your mechanic have any contacts within Vauxhall garages?

They can't quote you because they don't know the extent of the work needed without seeing the car.

Obviously they are going to charge for their time.
    The money, Dave...

£52 is a bit steep though for someone to go 'oh the door wont open'. lol

i hope it can be repaired as were going on holiday first week of july.

of all the things to happen.

thankfully mum will lend us the money for the repairs.

mark - theres only one local to us unfortunately. not sure about our mechanic having contact with any.

£320 for a new seatbelt and door bearings. the labour cost more than the parts.
