unable to bill me

my gas and electricity supplier has written to me to say they are unable to generate me a bill! They say they are working on it as hard as they can, but they haven't billed me since March, have they broken their side of the contract? Do I have to pay them?!!

No you don't have to pay them....for any usage so far unbilled over 12 months ago. You had a bill in March this year assuming that was billed accurately up until March then they have until next March to send you another bill. If they wait until April 2014 then some of the usage in March 2013 could be written off.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • I thought they may have an obligation to send regular bills?!

Define regular...I get my bills regularly 6 months apart. Sometimes they skip one (due to me not providing timely meter readings) and send one once a year when they read the meter themselves.

  • Make sure you take note of your usage and the tariff when you are using it. When they eventually get their act together I bet they will bill you at the wrong tariff.

  • I always had bills regularly until this year, I called them in July with up to date meter readings so they could send one
