Nationwide overdrafts.

I am enjoying having the free overdraft facility from NW and have it for another 6 months. I keep increasing the overdraft as its interest free and every time the system allow it to be increased. Does anyone know when you reach a certain limit what the system says. Would it get referred to underwriters or just a straight no.

Very curious.

  • I would attempt to give them a call and ask in this case to be honest...

Thats really helpful. I do not need the facility but as its free I transfer the money to make some interest on it. If they decided to withdraw the overdraft arrangement I can pay it off immediately.

I kept checking my 'reserve' figure which normally sat at £500 above the agreed overdraft figure. By requesting the reserve as my new overdraft it was automatically approved and available within two days. The 'reserve' then reset zero but after 30 days was reset to £500 above the new overdraft. By regularly taking the reserve amount I was able to get my overdraft to £5K (when the process seemed to stop)

And it (5K) was available on each current account separately.
